Arqus Prepares for Its Next Chapter After Four Years of Collaboration

More than 80 members of the Arqus European University Alliance gathered at the University of Granada on 22 and 23 September to reflect on four years of collaboration and prepare for the Alliance’s next phase – Arqus Bridge.

The transition meeting provided an opportunity to review the progress made during the current funding period and the impact of initiatives, partnerships and joint programmes developed across the Alliance. With the current phase drawing to a close at the end of September, discussions also focused on how this experience can support the next stage of collaboration.

The meeting marked an important moment for Arqus as the Alliance prepares to move into Arqus Bridge. Participants reflected on the structures, partnerships and ways of working established over the past four years while considering new opportunities to strengthen cooperation across member universities.

“This meeting in Granada marks an important point of transition for the Alliance: a moment to reflect on what has been achieved together, consolidate the experience and knowledge gained over the past four years, and prepare the ground for the next stage of Arqus,” said Dorothy Kelly, Arqus Coordinator until the end of September. The role will then be taken over by Guadalupe Soriano Barabino.

Alongside strategic discussions, the programme created space for dialogue, wellbeing and connection. Participants took part in facilitated group sessions designed to encourage the exchange of experiences, collaborative problem-solving and stronger personal connections across the Alliance.

The meeting concluded with discussions on the year ahead, including major dates in the Arqus calendar and preparations for future Alliance activities. These include the 2027 Arqus Annual Conference and potential co-leads meetings in Wrocław and Graz.

As Arqus enters its next phase, the transition meeting in Granada provided an opportunity to build on four years of collaboration while setting the direction for the Alliance’s continued development.
