Arqus to Join the First European Doctoral Day

On 13 May, Europe will mark the first European Doctoral Day, a new continent-wide initiative dedicated to highlighting the role of doctoral education and PhD holders in research, innovation, and society. The initiative is planned as an annual event during Europe Month and brings together universities and academic networks across Europe.

The Arqus Alliance will contribute to the first edition with activities addressing key aspects of doctoral education, including mobility, talent development, and internationalisation. The programme will include a discussion on the role of mobility in shaping doctoral journeys, presentations by doctoral fellows, a poster networking session, a round table on how European excellence programmes and university alliances can support doctoral selection and human resources policy, and a session on internationalisation opportunities through Arqus.

European Doctoral Day also aims to strengthen the visibility of doctoral education and promote a broader understanding of the value of doctoral qualifications within and beyond academia. More than 170 labelled events are expected to take place across Europe and beyond, reflecting the diversity of doctoral education and research environments on the continent.
