Doctoral Summer School on Misinformation Research at the University of Granada

Arqus invites doctoral candidates and early-career researchers to apply for the International Doctoral Summer School “Psychological Approaches to Misinformation in Minds and Society”, which will take place from 15 to 18 September 2026 at the Mind, Brain and Behaviour Research Centre (CIMCYC) of the University of Granada. The four-day programme will be held fully in person and is designed for participants in psychology and related fields.
The summer school addresses the growing significance of misinformation and its wide-ranging impact on contemporary society, including the spread of conspiracy theories, attacks on scientific knowledge, and the rise of hate speech. Its aim is to deepen understanding of how and why individuals engage with misleading information and to explore evidence-based approaches for reducing susceptibility to such content.
The academic programme focuses on the psychological dimensions of disinformation, integrating perspectives at individual, group and societal levels. Key topics include cognitive processes, biases, persuasion, prejudice and ideological influences. The programme combines keynote lectures delivered by leading international scholars with collaborative group work. Expert-led sessions will examine core theoretical frameworks, research methods and empirical findings, with particular attention to the effectiveness and limitations of intervention strategies.
Among the invited speakers are Lisa Fazio (Vanderbilt University), Paula Gori (European Digital Media Observatory), Pablo Hernández (Maldita.es Foundation), Stephan Lewandowsky (University of Bristol), Helena Matute (University of Deusto) and Jon Roozenbeek (University of Cambridge).
A total of 26 participants will be selected to take part in this intensive programme, which offers a valuable opportunity for academic development and international networking. The deadline for applications is 22 May.
