From Guided Tours to a Festival: VU Invites International Students to VUniverse Introduction Days

With the new academic year just a few weeks away, Vilnius University (VU) invites international students to take part in a range of events designed to help them settle into university life and get to know the VU community. In September, students will have the opportunity to join the traditional VU community march, attend a festival and a picnic, take part in guided tours, and participate in other events that will help them discover the university, meet fellow students, and make the most of their first weeks at VU.
To help make the start of your studies easier, we invite you to learn about the key e-services available at VU on 28 August at 11.15 a.m. During the session, you will learn how to access all the information systems you will need at VU and will have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. You can join the session online.
On 28 August at 10.00 a.m., international VU Master’s students are invited to join an online session to learn about the wide range of opportunities and services available at VU – from career support and psychological counselling to mentoring, exchange programmes, and internship opportunities.
On the same day at 12.30 p.m., international VU Master’s students will have the opportunity to get to know the VU Library. During this online session, you will learn about the library’s services, study spaces and information resources available to support your studies.
On 31 August, from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m., international students are invited to attend Orientation Day. The event will introduce you to studying at VU and living in Lithuania, including information on public transport, safety and student support services.
On 1 September, international students are invited to experience one of VU’s long-standing traditions. The day will begin at 9.30 a.m. with the traditional flag-raising ceremony in the VU Library Courtyard (Universiteto g. 3). At 2.45 p.m., students, staff and alumni will gather for the traditional procession from the Lithuanian Parliament (Seimas) to the VU Great Courtyard.
From 2 to 3 September, first-year students will have the opportunity to get to know their coursemates, tutors, faculty, and department administration and take part in other activities organised especially for them.
On 3 September at 4.00 p.m., first-year students are invited to join an informal picnic featuring icebreaker games, activities, and opportunities to meet new people. The picnic will take place at two locations, allowing students to choose the one that is most convenient for them. You can register for the picnic here.
On 4 September, the VUniverse Introduction Days will conclude with the AD ASTRA festival, organised by Vilnius University Students’ Representation. The festival will feature a fair of student organisations and initiatives, discussions, various activities and an evening concert. You can register for the event here.
From 7 to 10 September, international students will have the opportunity to explore VU’s historic buildings and discover some of its most fascinating places through guided tours, including tours of VU’s central architectural ensemble and the Saulėtekis campus, where they can learn more about their architecture, history and development. First-year students are also invited to join a guided tour of the Bell Tower of St Johns’ Church, the tallest building in Vilnius Old Town, and enjoy panoramic views of the city.
These are just some of the events organised by VU. More information about the VUniverse Introduction Days can be found on the webpage, while the Facebook event is available here.
