Join the 13th Edition of the Arqus Café as a Tutor

Arqus is inviting tutors to join the 13th edition of the Arqus Café, which will run from 19 October to 18 December 2026. Applications are open until 19 September.

The current call is looking for tutors for English, German, Portuguese, Spanish and other languages beyond the Arqus Alliance languages. Tutors guide informal conversation sessions in their first or native language and help participants practise their language skills in a supportive and engaging environment.

Selected tutors receive training, guidelines, suggested topics and practical strategies for leading the sessions. In many cases, two tutors work together for the same language. The cafés take place once a week for one hour, and tutors can choose a time that fits their schedule.

The Arqus Café brings together students and staff from across the Alliance for informal language practice and cultural exchange. Sessions are guided by native or highly proficient speakers and are offered in both online and in-person formats, creating a relaxed setting in which participants can develop their language skills, exchange perspectives and learn more about different cultures.

Launched as a digital initiative in spring 2020, the Arqus Café has since grown into one of the Alliance’s established multilingual activities, connecting participants across Arqus universities through language learning and intercultural exchange.
