Vilnius University Invites Pupils to Register for the Traditional ‘Student for a Day’ Event

Vilnius University (VU) invites school students and anyone interested in studying at VU to join its traditional ‘Student for a Day’ event, which will take place from 20 to 24 April. The event offers a unique opportunity to get to know VU – from its study programmes and extracurricular activities to university spaces, lecturers, and the wider university community.

Participants are invited to attend lectures, seminars, and special sessions across 15 VU faculties and academic units in Vilnius, Kaunas, and Šiauliai. Activities will be held both on campus and online, in Lithuanian or English. In addition to exploring study programmes and their content in more detail, participants will have the chance to meet and talk with lecturers and current students.

This year’s ‘Student for a Day’ event offers more than 550 sessions to choose from. Participants will have the opportunity to carry out laboratory experiments at the Life Sciences Center, take part in a business startup simulation, and attend a wide range of lectures – from building an investment portfolio and learning how lasers work to exploring links between Lithuanian philology and advertising, or examining the impact of marketing tools used in business on consumer behaviour. Participants are also welcome to join activities organised by the VU Culture Centre, including open rehearsals of the folklore ensemble ‘Ratilio’, the women’s choir ‘Virgo’, the organ studio ‘Unda Maris’, the folk music ensemble ‘Jaunimėlis’, and the VU Song and Dance Ensemble.

‘Student for a Day’ is about more than just lectures. During the event, pupils will experience everyday life at VU, explore the study environment, meet lecturers, and interact with students. It also provides a valuable opportunity to learn about preferred study programmes and discover new ones, helping participants make a more informed decision about studying at VU.

Those wishing to take part are encouraged to register responsibly – due to limited capacity, it is recommended that you choose no more than five sessions. All activities are scheduled in Lithuanian time (EEST). The registration link can be found here.

Important information for participants:

Links to online lectures will be sent to registered participants twice: 48 hours before the session and again 1 hour before the lecture starts. If you do not receive any emails, please check your spam folder.
