VU and the University of Granada Offer Arqus Course on Futures Studies

The Arqus Alliance is offering a new learning opportunity for students interested in understanding and working with the future. The Introduction to Futures Studies course, organised by Vilnius University and the University of Granada, aims to develop the mindset and skills needed to explore possible futures and apply strategic foresight in practice.
Futures studies and strategic foresight are becoming increasingly important in public policy and decision-making. The UN Pact for the Future highlights foresight as part of anticipatory governance, while the European Commission, OECD and UNESCO are also promoting approaches that help institutions and societies anticipate change and prepare for emerging challenges.
At the same time, foresight units and programmes are expanding across Europe, and businesses and consultancies are increasingly integrating foresight into strategic planning. Despite this growing demand, opportunities to study the field remain relatively limited. The course seeks to help address this gap by introducing students to the principles and practical applications of futures studies.
