Lija Umancewowna (Lija Umancevičaitė) (1914–?) was born in Romny. In 1934, she graduated from the Teachers’ Society Gymnasium in Vilnius. That same year, she enrolled in the Biology Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Stephen Báthory University, specialising in botany. In 1940, she applied to continue her botany studies at the Biology Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of Vytautas Magnus University. Umancewowna was enrolled as an unclassified student and later admitted as a full-time student. On 5 November 1940, she applied to be transferred to the Biology Department of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at Vilnius University and was accepted. On 19 September 1941, she was expelled from the university by the Order of 17 September 1941 of the Department of Higher Education under the Board of Education, which was subordinate to the National Socialists. No further information on the fate of Umancewowna is known.
