Vice-Rector of the University and Pro-Rector for Research
Professor Edita Sužiedėlienė has been the Pro-Rector for Research of Vilnius University (since 1 April 2020) and the Vice-Rector of Vilnius University (since 6 April 2020).
The Pro-Rector for Research takes care of fostering Vilnius University as an age-old international science centre, as defined in the Statute. Prof. E. Sužiedelienė is responsible for the strengthening of the University as a research institution, the development of international research, the harmonious implementation of doctoral studies, research and experimental (social, cultural) development. The Vice-Rector also takes care of the activities of Vilnius University Library and Publishing House.
Prof. E. Sužiedėlienė graduated from Vilnius University with a degree in Biochemistry (1986). She continued his scientific career at Vilnius University, Department of Biochemistry and Biophysics, wherein she has obtained his doctoral degree (1995). Prof. E. Sužiedėlienė – former Head of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in Vilnius University (2012–2020), Member of the Natural and Technical Sciences Committee of the Lithuanian Science Council (2013–2020), Chairwoman of the Academic Ethics Commission of the Lithuanian Science Council (2013–2020).
Prof. E. Sužiedėlienė actively participates in the activities of all study programmes of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, is the author of textbooks, supervises doctoral students (five of them have successfully defended doctoral dissertations). Since 1995 prof. E. Sužiedelienė has taught courses in Molecular Biology, Mechanisms of Molecular Pathogenesis, Molecular Biology, Human Biology and Genetics. Prof. E. Sužiedėlienė was the chairwoman of three bachelor's and master's degree programme committees, was a member of two committees, and a member of the doctoral committee of Biochemistry.
In 1991–1993 prof. E. Sužiedėlienė had an internship at the University of Washington (St. Louis, USA), in 2000 and 2001 – P. and M. Curie University (Paris, France) and Karolinska Institutet (Stockholm, Sweden).
The professor was awarded the Rector's Prize for Scientific Achievements (2010) and was recognised as the best lecturer at the Life Sciences Center of Vilnius University (2017).
The main prof. E. Sužiedėlienė's scientific interests include fundamental and applied research in the fields of biochemistry and molecular biology, studying the molecular mechanisms of bacterial resistance to antibiotics, responses to environmental influences and pathogenesis, and the development of molecular detection and inactivation methods of pathogenic bacteria. The professor has been working in this field for more than 20 years, regularly publishes in international scientific journals, and with co-authors has prepared a section of a monograph published in an international scientific publishing house.

Pro-Rector for Studies
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Valdas Jaskūnas has been the Vice-Rector for Studies at Vilnius University (since 1 September 2016). He is responsible for the quality, results, development and financing of studies and non-formal education, internationalization of studies, teacher training, educational competences of academic staff and attraction of new academic staff members, academic counselling for students, the attraction of talented students.
The Vice-Rector for Studies represents the University in all state and other institutions by signing applications, reports, letters and other documents related to the study activities of the University and in concluding, amending, terminating and continuing student research contracts student research contracts, as well as student and graduate mobility abroad (Erasmus+ internships, internships at the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Lithuania and Lithuanian education schools), author's contracts in the studies field and residency (except doctoral studies), and other (including residency) in the studies field and non-formal education, contracts for the implementation of joint study programs and other documents.
Dr. V. Jaskūnas graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts with a Master's degree in Art History and Theory, also he has defended doctoral dissertation in the Humanities (2003). Since 1997 – Lecturer at the Center of Oriental Studies in Vilnius University, 2014–2016 – the Director of the Centre. Pro-Rector's field of scientific interests consists of the textual tradition of the architecture of early medieval Hindu temples in India, the academic practices of regionalism and their history in the West, theories of regionalism, the history of Lithuanian Orientalism, and the activities of Asian and especially Indian institutions and movements in Lithuania.
Valdas Jaskūnas translates classical Sanskrit literature from Sanskrit into Lithuanian. He teaches theories of Regional Studies, Indian Art, Classical Sanskrit Literature, and Visual Culture in Asia at Vilnius University.
Valdas Jaskūnas has been working at Vilnius University for more than 20 years, during which he gained a lot of administrative and expert work experience in the field of studies management: contributed to the Asian Studies development in Vilnius University and for many years chaired the Asian Studies Program Committee, was one of the Baltic Alliance for Asian Studies founder and a member of its council; also participated in external expertise, was a member of expert commissions of study programs in Lithuania and abroad, an expert of the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education (SKVC). Until 2016 Dr. V. Jaskūnas was a member of the Study Evaluation Commission under SKVC, a member of the Study Committee of the Lithuanian University Rectors' Conference, participated in the preparation of the by-laws of the Law on Higher Education and Research of the Republic of Lithuania, and a member of the European Association for Asian Art and Archeology.

Pro-Rector for Partnerships
Dr. Artūras Vasiliauskas is the Pro-Rector for Partnerships at Vilnius University (since 18 May 2020).
During the mission of the University, the Pro-Rector takes care of the University's cooperation with state institutions, social partners and educational institutions, represents the University in international and national organizations and their networks, takes care of the University external relations, image, marketing and communication, relations wtih alumni and alumni associations, Lithuanian and foreign companies, institutions and organizations, enter into agreements or other agreements with them.
Dr. A. Vasiliauskas graduated from Vilnius University with a Bachelor's degree in History (1993), Master's degree studies in Modern History at the Central European University (1995), also, has defended the doctoral thesis Local Politics and Clientage in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania in 1587–1632 at King's College London University and obtained a doctoral degree n Humanities (2001). Since 2001 teaches as a lecturer at the Faculty of History of Vilnius University.
Areas of scientific interests – political culture in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, historical anthropology, concepts of modernity. Dr. A. Vasiliauskas has published articles in Lithuanian and foreign scientific publications, read papers at international conferences, actively participates in various scientific communication and digitization projects, and advises the executors of artistic and cultural initiatives on the history of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
Dr. A. Vasiliauskas has worked as the Director of the Open Society College (2001–2004), Project Coordinator of the Nordic Council of Ministers' Office in Lithuania (2004–2009), Director of the British Council Vilnius Office (2009–2020), has accumulated a great deal of international cooperation, experience in preparation and implementation of large educational and cultural projects based on the partnership with various Lithuanian and foreign organizations.
Fluent in English, Polish and Russian.

Pro-Rector for Organizational Development and Community Affairs
Dr. Rita Rekašiūtė Balsienė has been the Pro-Rector for Organizational Development and Community Affairs of Vilnius University (since 1 April 2020).
The Pro-Rector is responsible for the formation of Vilnius University human resource management policy, efficiency of general inter-functional organization processes, fostering organizational culture, internal communication, academic code of ethics, integration of students into the academic community, assistance to members of the University community with special needs and equal opportunities policy at the University, and development of self-realization services for members of the University community, etc. The Pro-Rector supervises the Vilnius University Botanical Garden, the Culture Center, the Sports and Health Centre, and the Museum.
The Pro-Rector for Organizational Development and Community Affairs represents Vilnius University in all states and other institutions signed agreements related to the formation and implementation of equal opportunities policy at the University.
Dr. R. Rekašiūtė Balsienė graduated from Vilnius University with a degree in Clinical Psychology and defended her doctoral dissertation in organizational psychology. Pro-Rector has graduated from the NTL Institute (National Learning Laboratory, USA) Organizational Development programme, also, gained individual and team development and mentoring knowledge from a prominent expert in the field – David Clutterbuck. Also, in 2011 received the internationally recognized Certificate of Management Consultant (CMC); in 2012–2013 has studied at the Institute of Individual Psychology.
Dr. R. Rekašiūtė Balsienė has worked as an independent management consultant, expert in organizational strategy formation, organizational structure, organizational change management, processes and personnel management, organized seminars and advised managers on leadership and personal development issues. Worked as an advisor to the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Lithuanian on strategic planning, organizational change and their management (2017–2019). Also, was a member of the Board of Lithuanian Business Consultants (2012–2014), the head of the Personnel Policy Transformation Group of Vilnius University (2016–2017), and a member of the Board of the Youth Line (Jaunimo linija).
She has been teaching at Vilnius University for more than 20 years. She worked mainly in the Organizational Psychology master's degree study programme, also was a member and chairwoman of the study programme committee.

Chancellor
Raimundas Balčiūnaitis is a Chancellor of Vilnius University (since 16 September 2021). He assists to the Rector in managing the University's economy and property, managing finances, ensuring the internal order of the University and the necessary material and organizational conditions for the activities of the Senate and Council, as well as signing court proceedings, has the right to conclude, supplement, amend, terminate contracts (excluding residents' managers), to approve the European Union structural assistance reports (after the completion of projects), is responsible for the efficiency, quality and results of the activities of the Central Administration and main non-academic departments of Vilnius University, attraction and implementation of investment and activity projects, management of information technology services, public procurement, etc.
In 2014–2021 R. Balčiūnaitis was a member of the Council of VIlnius University. He was also a member of the Council of the Centre for Quality Assessment in Higher Education, a member of the Council of the Research and Higher Education Monitoring and Analysis Centre (MOSTA), and a member of the Board of the Lithuanian Social Business Association. In addition, he is a Vilnius University alumni and a member of the VU Students' Union Alumni Association. The Chancellor worked at the Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists, the Lithuanian Innovation Center, the Sunrise Valley Science and Technology Park, several information technology companies, and engaged in consulting activities.
