The Senate of Vilnius University is a collegial decision-making body that ensures freedom of culture, science, research, and teaching at the University. The Senate considers general academic issues, adopts necessary legislation, and ensures that the initiatives of the Council, the Rector, and the community are in line with the University's mission, goals, and academic principles.
The Senate consists of 46 members and serves a four-year term: 36 members are from University academic staff, 9 – University students' representatives and the Rector, who is a Senate member by the position (ex officio). The current composition of the Senate started its activity on 1 July 2022.
