Guidance for an air threat during diploma award celebrations

Important information: how to proceed in the event of an air threat declared during the diploma award celebrations?

St Johns’ Church of Vilnius University will host the diploma award ceremonies during the next two weeks. It is therefore important to remind ourselves how to proceed during such mass events in case of an air threat alert.

If a potential air threat (‘Yellow’) alert has been received, the ceremony will continue, but you will be invited to remain vigilant and monitor information from the organisers and the competent authorities.

In the event of an air threat (‘Red’) alert, the diploma award ceremony will be suspended immediately; participants (both in the church and in open spaces) must proceed to shelters and safe locations within the territory of the Central Campus of Vilnius University.

Once the alert has been lifted, the ceremony will continue.

The following official shelters are located within the territory of the Central Campus:

The premises of the former cafeteria below the VU Aula Parva Hall (the Small Hall) (access from the Great Courtyard of Vilnius University) will also be open during an air threat.

Anyone planning to take part in the diploma award celebrations at the Central Campus of Vilnius University is invited to familiarise themselves in advance with the locations of shelters and other safe locations within the territory of the Central Campus of VU.

For the exact locations of the shelters, photos of the entrances, and other relevant information, see the ‘Emergency Response Guide’ at Emergency Response Guide.

Please be reminded that in an emergency, it is important to remain calm and avoid panic or further disorder. If you are with children, elderly people or persons with disabilities, help them reach the shelters and do not leave them alone. The safety of people at mass events depends on organised and coordinated action. We invite you to share this information with your community.
