Students for Pupils, Pupils for Students

Sukurta: 08 April 2020

A new initiative of youth organisation Students for Pupils for Students (SPPS) was launched on 7 April. This initiative is aimed at increasing the well-being of learning for Lithuanian students and reduce the current global negative effect the COVID-19 pandemic has on the education sector.

The initiative is helping students in grades 1 through 12 to better absorb the knowledge that is provided through distance learning. The initiative's volunteers (mentors) will help registered students by explaining the theoretical material needed for further learning, counsel pupils on distance learning, inform them about mobility and offer career guidance. In addition, mentors can register and conduct virtual sessions. The mentors can be senior pupils, university students or graduates.

All assistance to students is provided via remote communication platforms.

The initiative is supported by the First Lady of the Republic of Lithuania Diana Nausėdienė.

The organisers of this initiative: Vilnius University Students'‚ Representation, the Lithuanian Council of Youth Organisations, the Lithuanian Students' Union and the Lithuanian School Students' Union.

SPPS is a Vilnius University Students' Representation programme that was started in 2009. It is a three-day camp, but this year, due to the situation in the country and the world, this camp became a virtual project and moved to the Discord platform. With the start of this initiative, the camp continues to operate.
