Rare Books and Manuscripts Reading Rooms

Rare books and Manuscripts reading rooms (Central Library) are open to visitors. It is necessary to register in advance at the emails provided):

  • Manuscripts Reading Room:
  • Rare Books Reading Room:

Please NOTE

  • Up to two visitors will be provided services in reading rooms at the same time.
  • Working hours of reading rooms are as follows: Monday-Thursday from 9.00 to 18.00, Fridays – from 9.00 to 17.00.
  • Registration is considered approved only after receiving the approval email from the library staff.
  • In the case of large flows of reservations, the duration of your visit may be limited in order to provide access to information resources for the maximum number of readers.

We kindly remind you that in order to avoid unnecessary movement, members of VU community may contact Rare Books Reading Room (email: ) or Manuscripts Reading Room (email: ) and order scanning of documents and their parts that are necessary for the research.

Digitized cultural heritage of VU Library is available on Digital Collections website and national portal eHeritage. You are welcome to use resources provided by European cultural heritage portal Europeana.
